Alex Gold is a British born music producer and the creative A&R behind the iconic and legendary Xtravaganza Record label, now celebrating 25 years in existence.

​

As a true visionary, Alex has been involved in over 56 UK National Top 40 Hit records, 2 UK National No.1 Hit records, and has his hand in over 15 million record sales.


Having worked and collaborated with major artists including Bryan Adams, Prince, Marie Brennan (of Clannad), Annie Lennox, Phillip Oakey (of The Human League), Chuck D of Public Enemy and Ice T; Alex Gold has also been responsible for launching some of the biggest names in Dance Music today, including the likes of No.1 Dutch DJ and multimillion dollar talent Armin Van Buuren (whose debut single Blue Fear was released by Gold’s Xtravaganza label in 1997). Alex Gold is also credited with the executive production and inception of multi-million selling and heritage Electronic Music album
artist Chicane.


In the early part of Alex Gold’s career, he learnt his trade through working in independent UK music distribution company Spartan Music, where he worked on campaigns for labels such as Mute Records and artists such as Depeche Mode and Erasure. Alex was later headhunted to work at hugely successful German record label ZYX Music. During his time at ZYX, Alex worked as A&R under CBS Germany’s founder Bernhard Mikulski and headed up many central European Hit signings. Whilst at ZYX, Alex also worked with Dorian Gray -Frankfurt Resident DJ and Techno Pioneer Torsten Fenslau on his Abfart Frankfurt Techno imprint.

In 1994, Alex was again headhunted by “edel Records” Germany (at the time a major European music power house) and later jointly headed up the A&R team and became responsible for signings such as Prince’s independent album Exodus and the No 1 hit single “The Most Beautiful girl in the world”.


In 1996, Gold founded Xtravaganza Recordings, which became a multi-million selling record label and is synonymous with the Cosmopolitan Ibiza dance sound we know today. Xtravaganza is now in its 25th Anniversary and has acclaimed Electronic Music Heritage.


A rare breed of individual who has not only achieved huge and credible success as a creative Artist/Performer and Music Producer, but also as an executive and maverick entrepreneur known for creating "out of the box" strategic solutions in difficult scenarios to achieve the ultimate success.


Alex Gold is a true Ibiza and Balearic pioneer having first performed on the island in 1989 and then subsequently featured on and promoted his own Headline Residency Xtravaganza Nights at Privilege Ibiza (The largest club in the World / Guinness Book World of Records) and the legendary Space Ibiza Club.

Business Career Highlights and Achievements

In 1994, Alex Gold headed the A&R team at “edel” Records in Hamburg, Germany that was responsible for signing Prince when he became “The Artist Formerly Known As”. The signing included European rights for the album Exodus which included the UK and European No.1 Hit “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World”. In 1996, Alex Gold founded Xtravaganza Recordings through “edel” Records Germany.

 

The first release by the artist Chicane and was a track entitled “Offshore” which reached No.12 in the UK national charts and became a huge Hit across Europe.

 

In 1999, Alex Gold signed a worldwide $5M draw down deal with Sony Music Europe for Xtravaganza. The deal was later extended to a direct deal with Columbia Records US.

 

In 2000, Alex Gold achieved his second UK No.1 Hit single with Chicane featuring Bryan Adams. Subsequently, Chicane’s Album “Behind The Sun” became BPI Gold sales status in the UK.

 

In 2000, Alex Gold and Xtravaganza scored the biggest Hit of the label’s career. Public Domain “Operation Blade”. The Track featured a sample from the Wesley Snipes Blade Movie. The Hit went on to sell millions of copies worldwide and became Silver Sales Status in the UK and Germany and Triple Platinum in Australia.

In 2001, Alex Gold and Xtravaganza procured a Million Pound ($1.5 M) sync deal with international advertising agency McCann Erikson to use Chicane’s Track Saltwater on its Global Campaign for Tourism Ireland.

 

In 2005, Alex Gold’s track “Back from A Break” was licensed to Sky TV Sports and became the Sync’d TV Theme tune to Premiership Football in the UK.

 

In 2006, Alex Gold and Xtravaganza signed to Richard Branson’s V2 label.

 

In 2011, The Xtravaganza Catalogue was signed to the BBC in London.

 

In 2012, Alex Gold (as alias Dehasse) and Xtravaganza were commissioned as consultants to mix and oversee the release of the official theme tune to the London 2012 Olympic Games; “Harder Than You Think” by Public Enemy. Gold’s mix was sync’d by the UK’s ITV and Channel 4 TV stations for their TV coverage of the Games and subsequently became a UK National Top 5 Hit.

 

In 2014 / 2016, Gold’s track (alias Dehasse) “Mountains We Can’t Climb” was licensed and sync’d on the US national campaigns for Roxy Clothing / Etnies Skateboarding and Fox Head Clothing.

Alex Gold has achieved much success as an A&R Executive and Consultant cementing his legacy in Global Electronic Music History.

 

In addition to the 56 UK top 40 hit records, 2 UK No 1 Hits and 15 million record sales, Alex has been responsible for discovering and developing some of the greatest Electronic artists in the world such as Armin Van Burren ( whose first ever single Blue Fear appeared on Gold’s Xtravaganza Imprint back in 1997). Alex is also credited with the inception and development of multi-million selling act Chicane.

 

Alex Gold was additionally responsible for the first 2 Chicane Albums Far From The Maddening Crowds and Behind the Sun. These albums featured classic and legendary hits Saltwater (feat.Marie Brenan), Don’t Give Up (feat. Byan Adams) and Offshore. Alex has also worked with H,eritage Hip Hop acts Ice T and Public Enemy.

In 2012, Gold was commissioned to consult on the release of Public Enemy’s “Harder Than You Think”. Alex Gold remixed the track under his alias Dehasse and the track became a UK top 5 single and was commissioned as the Official TV Theme tune to the London 2012 Olympic Games by the UK’s Channel 4 and ITV.

In 2000, Gold scored a huge global hit with Public Domain ‘Operation Blade” which featured not only Public Enemy’s classic quotes from their famous concert in London’s Hammersmith Odeon in 1997, but also an excerpt from Wesley Snipes Blade Movie (New Order “Confusion”)
